Tractive and other off the shelf solutions from retailers\/online supply this as an all in one solution, but their subscription fee is quite expensive, often \u00a315 or more per month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s how to use your own SIM card and make it a lot cheaper monthly (only \u00a35 or less). This example uses a UK SIM but feel free to try other sims worldwide and post your results below in the comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So how do you do it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All you need is a <a href=\"https:\/\/s.click.aliexpress.com\/e\/_EJHfPtw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">zx908 ready made board<\/a>. Just \u00a312.40. It\u2019s usb (for charging), gsm (for data transmission to your phone via the 365gps app) and gps to do the location mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then you\u2019ll just need to power it up with a <a href=\"https:\/\/s.click.aliexpress.com\/e\/_ExDbzaG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3.7 volt rechargeable lipo battery, like this one.<\/a> It will be recharged using the in built usb port on the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Install a data only <a href=\"https:\/\/smarty.co.uk\/all-plans#data-only\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2gb \u00a35\/month smarty SIM card<\/a> if you live in the uk. I\u2019ve not tried other sims but would be good if others can post other successful sims across the globe in the comments to help others if they need to use a different sim and\/ or network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Download the 365gps app on your phone and configure the board using <a href=\"http:\/\/parrot.disco.free.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/202503-ZX908-Mini-traqueur_GPS_4G-User-Manual.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">these instructions<\/a>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lastly enclose the whole thing in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\/thing:6956787\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">case\/ enclosure like this one<\/a> and you\u2019re done! I\u2019m currently working on a smaller more compact enclosure to be less clunky on a pets collar. But for now this will do the trick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fire up the app and watch your pet, car or bike run around.
